At its core, Kalpataru believes in creating spaces where tradition and contemporary thought can interact and grow. Its initiatives are thoughtfully designed to bridge learning and performance, offering young practitioners opportunities to engage deeply with their art. Through regular classes, mentorship, and exposure to stage, students are encouraged to develop both technical rigour and individual artistic voice. The organisation also actively facilitates dialogue between artists and audiences, making the arts more accessible, intimate, and reflective of our times.

Kalpataru’s key initiatives include MANJARI –  its annual students’ festival celebrating emerging talent; SAKSHAM – a series of workshops and lecture-demonstrations aimed at knowledge sharing; Gunijan Baithak – an intimate concert series fostering close artistic exchange; and ANKUR – a festival dedicated to showcasing child prodigies and young performers.

Under Sangita Chatterjee’s curatorship, Kalpataru also presents MANTHAN, its flagship annual festival featuring some of the most respected names in Indian classical music and dance. Over the years, the festival has hosted eminent maestros such as Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Pt. Vinayak Torvi, Pt. Krishan Mohan Misra & Guru Vaswati Misra, Smt. Rama Vaidyanathan, Smt. Sujata Mohapatra, and Dr. Maya Kulkarni, among many others.
